Attendance reminders for our school
Our instructional school day is:
Doors Open: 8:00 AM
Warning Bell: 8:20 AM
Tardy Bell: 8:25 AM
Dismissal: 2:55 PM
School Hours: We are operating on a 6 1/2 hour instructional day for students. Please help us by following our school hours and contacting the office if planning a visit to the school or would like to schedule a conference outside of our office hours.
Dismissal Changes: Dismissal changes will only be accepted from the custodial parent or legal guardian. Please be sure that if your child’s dismissal procedure needs to be changed that you send a note to school. We work very hard to ensure that all 700+ students are dismissed safely.
Dismissal changes will not be accepted over the phone unless it is in an emergency. Not only do telephone calls cause an interruption to student learning as a result of ‘all calls’ to classes for a child to be dismissed, they are a huge safety concern. They leave more room for human error related to the appropriate message being transferred, provide no way for us to properly ID the person making the call, and then leave us worried about the follow through as described when the student leaves school.
If you plan to pick your child up early for an appointment, please do so at least by 2:35 PM to avoid the rush that occurs at the scheduled dismissal at 2:55 PM, remember, we have 700+ students dismissing and it is very hard for classroom teachers and office staff to be able to catch the students in transit to their dismissal stations or to find them on a bus.If student is already on bus you may be asked to meet that student at their bus stop.
Anyone showing up to pick up a student will need to present their ID, if you are not the custodial parent or legal guardian there may be a delay in the release of the student until we verify that we have a note from the custodial parent/legal guardian or we can get a confirmation from the custodial parent/legal guardian that it is OK to release that student. If we cannot reach parent/guardian student will go home via their normal dismissal process.
